Podgorica, (MINA) - By planting trees in the yard of Elementary School “Njegos” in Spuz, the project of greening schoolyards in Montenegro has been launched, implemented within the national environmental campaign “Čuvaj da te čuva”, the Europe House stated.
The Europe House stated that EU Ambassador to Montenegro Johann Sattler, Minister of Education, Science and Innovation Andjela Jaksic Stojanovic, Njegos Primary School principal Tatjana Jokic and the initiative’s founder Vuk Vujisic participated in the tree planting event on Wednesday.
As they said from the European House, the scope of the national ecological campaign “Čuvaj da te čuva” has been expanded to include the greening of schoolyards and the development of outdoor classrooms across Montenegro.
Satler said that greener school yards, more trees and outdoor classrooms are not only a matter of improving the physical environment of schools, but also of creating spaces where learning and respect for nature become part of everyday life.
He stated that these activities are part of the wider environmental campaign “Čuvaj da te čuva”, which in less than a year has grown into a truly national effort, bringing together institutions, the business sector, civil society, the media and schools.
Jaksic Stojanovic said that the tree-planting action is not just another activity within the campaign, but marks the beginning of a broader vision in which schoolyards become spaces for learning, research and fostering environmental awareness.
The campaign was launched on June 5 of last year by the EU Delegation, by forming the Coalition of the Willing, which brings together institutions, civil society organizations, municipalities, schools, media and businesses dedicated to environmental protection in Montenegro.
