Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to MP Milos Pizurica of the Europe Now Movement (PES), a major victory for workers’ rights in Montenegro has been achieved with the unanimous adoption of amendments to the Law on Internal Trade in Parliament reintroducing non-working Sundays.

He said the legal amendment proposed by PES was supported by 62 MPs, demonstrating that they had listened to the voice of citizens and workers.

“Parliament has done what is within its constitutional authority: it adopted a law tailored to citizens and workers,” Pizurica said at a press conference in Parliament.

According to him, it is important to emphasize that workers in Montenegro have secured what is the minimum of their labour rights, one day off per week, and that is Sunday, a day for family and friends.

“We still have one major task ahead, which is to provide additional protection for employees who currently work on Sundays, to improve their rights and their situation in the labour market,” Pizurica said.
