Photojournalists attacked during relocation of monument to Djurisic

Podgorica, (MINA) - Photojournalists Stevo Vasiljevic of Pobjeda daily and Boris Pejovic of Vijesti, were attacked on Friday outside the church in the village of Gornji Zaostro.

Pobjeda reports that Vasiljevic and Pejovic were attacked around 2 p.m., at the time when the monument to Pavle Djurisic was being relocated to the church.

Part of Vasiljevic’s equipment was taken and damaged, after which he was forcibly taken into a tent where several people began hitting and threatening him.

The attackers reportedly threatened Pejovic that if “Vijesti publish anything [about the incident], they will kill him with their bare hands”.

More serious violence was avoided thanks to the intervention of a couple of local residents.

Vijesti reports that two plainclothes police officers in a Dacia Duster police vehicle stood by just watching the attack unfold without intervening.

Visibly shaken, Vasiljevic and Pejovic were urgently evacuated from Gornji Zaostro.
