Payment transactions total €1.52 billion

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to the statistics released by the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG), the value of payment transactions in the 31 business days of January amounted to €1.52 billion.

Transactions carried out in the Real Time Gross Settlement System (RTGS) accounted for 93.85 percent, while the ones carried out in the Deferred Net Settlement (DNS) system accounted for their remaining number.

Individual transactions between clients are carried out according to the real time principle in the RTGS system, while the interbank transactions are carried out in the DNS system.

“In the 31 working days of January, a total of 974,91 payment orders were executed, out of which those in RTGS system accounted for 36.37 percent, and the ones in DNS system for their remaining number,” CBCG stated in a report.

On average, 31,450 payment orders were executed in RTGS and DNS system a day, while the average daily value of payment operations was €49.1 million in this period.

There was 23 minutes of system downtime in January, meaning that its availability rate was 99.87 percent.

In May, the CBCG launched a new generation of the national payment system, RTS/X, fully aligned with the international ISO 20022 standard, marking the most important functional and technological upgrade to the domestic payment system since its establishment in 2005.
