Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – One is celebrating its 30th anniversary.
“There are dates that change everything, and one of them was 10 July, 1996, when the first mobile phone call was made in Montenegro. For that to happen, behind the brand-new technology stood the pioneers of the country’s first mobile operator,” the company said in a press release.
Today, 30 years later, four employees who have been with One since the very beginning, Milo Mihaljevic, Milica Jovovic, Vanja Popovic, and Milena Milic, continue to make an immeasurable contribution to every new milestone the company achieves through their expertise.
.

Mihaljevic recalls an empty room in the basement of the then state-owned post building, furnished with little more than a large table. He remembers the days when a small team worked late into the night, confident they were part of something that would transform the country.
.

Just a few months earlier, his colleague Milica Jovović had travelled to Norway with the first team of engineers for training. It was there that she held a mobile phone in her hands for the first time. To this day, she vividly remembers the moment she stood on a street in Oslo and called her mother.

Vanja Popovic, who remains dedicated to marketing communications today, recalls that the best advertisement for the then Promonte was remarkably simple.
“All you had to do was walk through town talking on a mobile phone. People's reactions said more than any advertising campaign ever could. No one could believe it was finally possible here too," Popovic said.

Milena Milić had spent years living abroad before joining the company and initially believed that a job with what was then a newly established foreign-owned company would be nothing more than a stepping stone. Instead, she stayed for a full 30 years.
"When I arrived, I was surrounded by cables, engineers, and an incredible sense of energy. After just my first day, I realized I hadn’t simply found a job, I had been given the opportunity to be part of something that would define an era.," Milic said.
She added that it was an invaluable learning experience, both professionally and personally.
Over time, it became clear that she was not only helping build a new company, but also contributing to the creation of a completely new business culture, one founded on knowledge, trust, teamwork, and standards that at the time defined the world’s most successful companies.
