Parliamentary hearing with Gjeloshaj and Vukovic requested

Parliamentary hearing with Gjeloshaj and Vukovic requested

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – A group of Members of Parliament submitted a request to the Parliamentary Committee on Economy, Finance, and Budget to organize a control hearing with Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Minister of Economic Development Nik Gjeloshaj, and Minister of Finance Novica Vukovic.

The proposed hearing focuses on the lack of an adequate government response to the ongoing negative effects of inflation on citizens’ living standards.

The initiative was signed by MPs Nikola Milovic, Nikola Rakocevic, and Mihailo Andjusic of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Boris Mugosa of the Social Democrats (SD), and Milos Konatar of the United Reform Action (URA).

“Considering official Eurostat and Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG) data on inflation trends in Montenegro and their continuous nature, and particularly the fact that the Government has not taken the necessary measures to prevent the consequences of inflationary shocks, we propose that the relevant members of the Government be heard before the Committee on Economy, Finance, and Budget,” the MPs’ request states.

They noted that the inflation rate in Montenegro is almost twice as high as in EU countries and more than twice as high as in euro area countries.

“Furthermore, looking at certain priority groups of products and services, prices in Montenegro have increased at rates up to eight times higher,” the request adds.
