Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Social Democrats (SD) MP Boris Mugoša said that the passivity of the parliamentary majority and the Government, coupled with political calculations and pressures, resulted in the abolition of work-free Sundays, without any concrete alternative being offered.
“Due to the passivity of the majority (the parliamentary majority and the Government), their calculations regarding sensitive issues, constant inter-coalition pressures and bargaining that often push numerous real socio-political challenges into the background, we have found ourselves in a situation where the Constitutional Court has abolished work-free Sundays, while the parliamentary majority and the Government failed to come forward with a concrete alternative solution,” Mugosa posted on X.
Commenting on the abolition of work-free Sundays in retail sector, Mugosa said that what he had been warning about for a long time had happened.
According to him, although the Constitutional Court had already reminded the Government and Parliament back in November that time was running out for them to act before the Court’s judges assessed the (un)constitutionality of work-free Sundays, no necessary steps were taken.
“That is why I proposed holding a meeting of the Economy Committee on the issue of work-free Sundays, where we will discuss all important aspects of this matter with the relevant authorities and where I will, among other things, once again point out the necessity of urgently proposing and adopting a solution that would allow for a work-free Sundays,” Mugosa said.
