Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Regional cooperation is the key to the success of modern tourism, Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordic said while chairing the meeting of UN Tourism Commission for Europe held in Malta.
She said that by taking over the presidency of the Commission for Europe, Montenegro also assumed the responsibility of actively contributing to strengthening regional cooperation and coordination among member states.
“In a time of global challenges, we must work much harder to ensure that meetings such as this one are used to adopt legitimate decisions and recommendations that will guide the development of the tourism industry and the system as a whole,” Kordic stated.
The Ministry of Tourism stated in a press release that Montenegro received unanimous support from more than 30 countries to host the Commission for Europe meeting next year, further confirming its active role in shaping European and global tourism policies.
Kordic said that Europe continues to maintain its position as the world’s leading tourism region, but that shared challenges require stronger coordination and cooperation among countries.
She particularly highlighted the importance of sustainable development and preserving the authenticity of destinations.
