Podgorica, (MINA) - Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorcevic and Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the two countries in the field of European integration in Brussels.
According to the press release from the Ministry of European Affairs, Montenegro and Ukraine thus reaffirmed their commitment to shared values and the strategic goal of full EU membership.
“The signing of the Memorandum strengthens bilateral relations and once again reaffirms the political will of both countries to speed up European integration and thereby contribute to the stability of the EU”, the press release said.
It is stated that Ukraine thus gets the opportunity to benefit from Montenegro’s experience, which achieved significant progress in the EU negotiation by closing several chapters in a short period of time.
Gorcevic said that the position of Montenegro, as the most advanced EU candidate, can be valuable for Ukraine.
As stated in the Ministry’s press release, the intensification of cooperation between the two countries focuses on the key areas such as the rule of law, public administration reform, the fight against corruption, economic criteria, green and digital transformation, as well as the strengthening of institutional and administrative capacities.
“Exchange of information on EU financial support programs and the improvement of communication activities is planned, with the possibility of expanding cooperation to other areas of common interest”, the press release says.
