Herceg Novi, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Mimosa Festival, attended by several thousand visitors, was formally opened on Friday in Herceg Novi.
It was announced at the opening of the 57th Mimosa Festival that Herceg Novi will be the centre of entertainment and culture in the region for the next 15 days.
The official start of the city’s biggest celebration was marked by a festival parade, the ceremonial handover of the city keys to the carnival participants, and the Novi Waltz, after which thousands of residents and guests danced to the hits of Goran Karan and Nina Badric.
As announced by the local administration of Herceg Novi, the carnival captain raised the Mimosa Festival flag on the Tora, a tower that symbolizes the city, while the trombone players signalled the start of the Mimosa parade.
Mayor of Herceg Novi Stevan Katic said that the Mimosa Festival is both a local and national brand, and one of the most important events during this time of year.
“In February, we celebrate the most beautiful flower, a flower that symbolizes friendship, brotherhood, and the beginning of spring. Thank you all for coming to Herceg Novi, for loving Novi as we all love it. You are always welcome in our city, which greets you with open arms.,” Katic said.
He added that visitors can enjoy more than 60 programmes over the next 15 days.
