Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The arrival of Wizz Air with a base in Podgorica is of great importance for Montenegrin tourism, especially for the upcoming season, said Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordic.

“Together with Wizz Air, we are launching direct routes to 17 destinations, which will ensure much better connectivity with the European market,” Kordic said after a meeting with Wizz Air Director Roland Tischner.

She added that Wizz Air will also bring 80 new direct jobs and 700 indirect jobs.

“Given the current global situation and conflicts in the Middle East, and the fact that fuel prices will affect the rise in air service prices in general, it is very important that this arrangement with Wizz Air is happening now,” Kordic stated.

Tischner said that the official opening of the base is important for both Wizz Air and Montenegro.

“One million new seats have been secured for the upcoming period,” Tischner said, adding that the company is launching 17 new routes connecting Podgorica with many major European cities.

He added that there will be a significant increase in the number of new passengers and expressed confidence that they will share positive impressions and experiences from the country with others.

“This will lead to an increasing number of tourists in the coming years,” Tischner concluded.
