Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Sunday should remain a non-working day in retail, said MP Milos Konatar of the United Reform Action (URA), adding that lawmakers have an obligation to protect workers.
“Our obligation is to protect workers and provide them with at least one guaranteed non-working day per week,” Konatar said.
According to him, retail workers want Sundays off so they can have that day guaranteed for themselves and their families.
“A large number of employers have also shown understanding, which could be seen when shops remained closed last Sunday even though they were legally allowed to operate,” Konatar said.
He stated that they must restore workers’ faith that institutions will protect them in cases of injustice, but also increase mutual trust between employers and employees.
