Inflation rate at 4.6 percent in August 

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Compared with last year’s corresponding period, the prices of products and services for personal consumption, measured by the consumer price index (CPI), were 4.6 percent higher on average in August.

According to Monstat, the consumer prices saw an average increase of 0.5 percent compared with July.

 

“At the monthly level, the inflation rate was affected primarily by rising prices of vegetables, accommodation services, meat, solid fuel, fruit, rent, milk, cheese and eggs, oil, and lard,” stated a press release issued by Monstat.

Compared with last year’s corresponding period, consumer prices were 3.6 percent higher on average from January through August.

 

Across the main groups, the monthly increase in prices was recorded for restaurants and hotels, food and non-alcoholic beverages, accommodation, furnishings and routine maintenance of the house, housing, water, electricity and other fuel, healthcare, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, and recreation and culture.

In this period, the prices decreased in the category of clothing and footwear, transport, other products and services, and communications.

Prices of other products and services have not changed significantly.
