GDP at 54 percent of EU average

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Eurostat’s official statistics, Montenegro’s gross domestic product per capita expressed in purchasing power standard stood at 54 percent of the EU average last year.
Monstat stated in a press release that, with 239 percent of the European average, Luxembourg had the highest GDP per capita expressed in purchasing power standard in the EU, which is more than two times above the EU average.
Eurostat released that Bulgaria and Greece are in the last place, with 68 percent of the EU average.
In the region, Croatia has the highest GDP per capita expressed in purchasing power standards in the region at 76 percent of the EU average, followed by Montenegro with 54 percent of the EU average.
Serbia is next at 52 percent of the European average, followed by Albania and North Macedonia at 43 percent, while GDP of and Bosnia and Herzegovina was at 36 percent of the European average in 2025.
The actual individual consumption (AIC) per capita measured by the purchasing power standards at the EU level ranged between 73 percent of the EU average in Hungary and Latvia and 145 percent of the EU average in Luxembourg.
GDP is mainly an indicator of the level of economic activity, while actual individual consumption is an alternative indicator better adapted to describe the material welfare of households.
