Domace.me app connects domestic producers and buyers across Montenegro
- Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Domace.me mobile application, which aims to connect producers of homemade products in Montenegro with potential buyers, is expected to facilitate networking, strengthen local communities and preserve tradition, as well as encourage people to engage in agriculture, said Vojin Lekovic, who developed the application.
Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Domace.me mobile application, which aims to connect producers of homemade products in Montenegro with potential buyers, is expected to facilitate networking, strengthen local communities and preserve tradition, as well as encourage people to engage in agriculture, said Vojin Lekovic, who developed the application.
Lekovic said that when he was considering launching the application, he faced a dilemma about how to obtain locally produced goods if he did not know anyone personally. He also realized that there were not enough quality online platforms offering homemade products.
“There was no such application, so I decided to develop a centralized digital platform where everyone could list their homemade products, including food, beverages and processed goods. That way, one could have an overview, as well as advanced filtering and sorting options, and reach a seller to purchase a domestic product directly,” Lekovic told the Mina-business agency.
According to him, the application is completely free and designed for all residents of Montenegro, including foreigners living there, as it also has an English-language interface.
“I also thought about tourists, so the application is available to them as well. They can browse products in English and view prices in different currencies. The available currencies include the euro, dollar, pound, lira and ruble. This is very useful because people can calculate prices in their own currency,” Lekovic added.
The application has 12 different categories, allowing producers to offer fruit, vegetables, meat and dairy products, bee products, seafood, spices and herbs, beverages and oils, and eggs. Machinery and livestock will not be offered through the platform.
When developing the application, his idea was to make it fast and, most importantly, user-friendly, since many sellers are older people who may not be as digitally literate as younger generations.
The application is currently in the production phase and is available on Android and iOS platforms. Anyone can download it, but Lekovic is not yet focusing on major promotion because he is currently working on onboarding producers.
“Before publicly promoting the application, I want to have a live base of producers, because supply defines the quality of my application. If I have, as I currently do, 20 products, no matter how functional it is, nobody will use it. But when I collect 50 or 100 products, then I can start marketing and promoting it to everyone,” Lekovic said.
He is currently visiting northern region and rural areas around Podgorica, where he is speaking with local producers and presenting the advantages of the platform he designed.
According to him, the response has been surprisingly positive.
“I believe the reason is that this is the first application of its kind. Creating a profile takes no more than two or three minutes, it is very simple and free. It costs nothing to create a profile, upload products or search,” Lekovic said.
Lekovic designed and developed the application using his own knowledge and personal funds. He received many useful comments from people who downloaded the app and explored its content.
Once the application takes off, Lekovic plans to continue its development and establish cooperation with people in Montenegro working in related fields such as tourism and agriculture.
