Niksic, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The non-governmental organization Zagrad Montenegro has requested that the Ministry of Energy and Mining urgently provide documentation regarding the concession and the obligations of the concessionaire of the Zagrad quarry in Zupa.

The NGO stated in a press release that it submitted a request for free access to information to the Ministry in October last year, seeking documentation on the concession and the concessionaire’s obligations related to the Zagrad quarry, but that the requested data has not been delivered to date. 

“Failure to act on the request leads to a lack of information for citizens, creates confusion in communication with the new concessionaire, and prevents monitoring of the fulfillment of legal and contractual obligations, particularly with regard to site reclamation,” the NGO said in a letter addressed to the Ministry.

According to the NGO, the lack of transparency raises justified suspicions of possible irregularities, abuse of authority, and corruption.

“We believe there is no justified reason for the documentation not to be made available to citizens,” the NGO concluded.
