- Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Eco-Team and The Nature Conservancy (TNC) have invited citizens of the municipalities of Pljevlja, Niksic, Cetinje, Podgorica, Kotor, and Bijelo Polje to participate in the planning process for solar and wind energy projects in their municipalities.
Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Eco-Team and The Nature Conservancy (TNC) have invited citizens of the municipalities of Pljevlja, Niksic, Cetinje, Podgorica, Kotor, and Bijelo Polje to participate in the planning process for solar and wind energy projects in their municipalities.
“Interested citizens in these municipalities can take part in the process by using a digital participatory mapping tool (PPGIS) to indicate the local values in their surroundings that they consider important and potentially at risk from the development of solar and wind energy projects,” Eco-Team stated in a press release.
Eco-Team stated that these six municipalities have been identified, based on the results of the national MEGA project (Montenegro Energy Growth and Acceleration), as areas with high potential for solar and wind energy development, while also having a low level of conflict with natural, cultural, socio-economic, and other values.
“However, the fact that a location has high energy potential and low conflict with natural, cultural, socio-economic, and other values on paper does not guarantee that a project will be implemented,” the press release reads.
According to the press release, planning and developing energy projects is a complex process involving many stakeholders, including planners, decision-makers, investors, and the local community.
