Budget deficit reaches €25 million in the first four months

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to the Ministry of Finance (MF), Montenegro recorded a budget deficit of €25 million in the first four months of the year, equivalent to 0.29 percent of estimated gross domestic product (GDP).

 

“At the same time, the current expenditure recorded a surplus of €43.75 million, or 0.5 percent of GDP, while the primary surplus amounted to €55.2 million, indicating the sustainability of public finances during the observed period,” the Ministry said in its April budget execution report.

 

The Ministry added that in April alone, the budget recorded a surplus of €98.9 million, equivalent to 1.2 percent of GDP. The current expenditure showed a surplus of €112.4 million, while the primary surplus reached €107.28 million, or 1.3 percent of GDP.

 

In the first four months, budget revenues reached nearly €1 billion, reflecting strong growth compared with the previous year and exceeding planned targets. 

 

Revenues totalled €971.3 million, or 11.3 percent of estimated GDP, which was 8.2 percent higher than in the same period last year and 3.5 percent above plan.
