AMU: In-house production increased but program diversity remains limited

 

Podgorica, (MINA) – Television stations with national coverage in Montenegro broadcast a little less than half of in-house production content (43 percent), while a significant part of the program consists of purchased content (around 37 percent) and other types of programs (about 12 percent), according to the Analysis of Compliance with Program Structures of Television Broadcasters with National Coverage published by the Audiovisual Media Services Agency (AMU).

The analysis found that the highest share of in-house production was recorded by TV E (72 percent), followed by the First Program of Television of Montenegro (60.93 percent), while the lowest percentage was recorded by TV Nova (22.91 percent), which is below the legal minimum.

It is emphasized that all broadcasters meet the legally required minimum of informative programs in their own production, which more than 10 percent in the period from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

On average, the entertainment content makes up for slightly more than one-fifth of the total content, about 22 percent, while films and series on average make up approximately one-fifth of the program.

According to the report, sports content makes up about 5 percent of the program on average, documentary program about 4 percent, music and cultural content about 3 percent, while scientific and educational content makes up a little more than 2 percent.

The AMU emphasized that children’s program remains underrepresented, with less than one percent of the total content, while religious content is almost negligible at just 0.08 percent.
