All regulations observed

All regulations observed

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Until the incident late last year, the Durmitor Tourist Centre had been operating in full compliance with all applicable regulations, its representatives said, while the authorities noted that the issue of long-term investment in the Zabljak ski resorts should be addressed.

Nikola Tripkovic, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Development Bank, which owns the Durmitor Tourist Centre, said at a parliamentary oversight hearing before the Anti-Corruption Committee that tragedies happen around the world and, unfortunately, cannot always be prevented.

“We are faced with a situation in which a human life was lost and trust in the tourism industry, as one of the main pillars of the economy in Zabljak, has been shaken. This may be the best way for the state to act responsibly in terms of monitoring all potential causes and preventing future problems that may occur or possibly be avoided,” Tripkovic said.

The purpose of the oversight hearing was to determine responsibility and review the management, maintenance, and safety of the Savin Kuk ski resort on Durmitor, following an incident in which a German citizen lost his life after falling from a ski lift chair.

Tripkovic said that until the tragic moment, the Durmitor Tourist Centre had operated fully in accordance with all applicable laws, procedures, and permits necessary for its operation.
