Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Tax inspectors carried out 1,480 inspections across Montenegro between 1 May and 16 July, imposing fines totalling more than €1.1 million.
“During the inspections, irregularities were identified at 213 taxpayers, resulting in 327 misdemeanour orders with fines totalling €1.13 million,” the Tax Administration said in a press release.
Of the total number of misdemeanour orders issued, 106 offenders accepted responsibility and, in accordance with the Misdemeanour Act, paid half of the imposed fine, amounting to a total of €255,800
Tax inspectors also imposed temporary bans on business operations on 22 taxpayers, as one of the strictest measures provided for under the applicable legislation.
The Tax Administration said it would continue intensive inspection activities in the coming period, with a particular focus on businesses with increased turnover during the tourist season.
