Podgorica, (MINA) - The Special State Prosecutor’s Office (SDT) has filed a motion for prosecution against former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Milutin Simovic, on suspicion that he committed the continued criminal offense of abuse of office.

According to SDT’s press release, Simovic is suspected of having committed a continued criminal offense comprising 16 separate acts.

The motion was submitted to the Special Department of the High Court in Podgorica.

Simovic was arrested in late December in Niksic, on suspicion of abuse of office, and was subsequently released from custody by the decision of the Podgorica High Court.

SDT suspects Simovic of submitting requests for cash payments from the state treasury on several occasions, presenting them as expenses for official representation, during his tenure as the Minister of Agriculture.
