Sarnovic: EU security system can rely on Montenegro

Podgorica, (MINA) - Historical results in the fight against organized crime, strong improvement in border control and comprehensive process of modernization and digitization of the security system confirm that the EU security system can rely on Montenegro, said Minister of the Interior Danilo Saranovic.

The Montenegrin Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) announced that Saranovic is paying an official visit to Hungary, at the invitation of his Hungarian colleague Sandor Pinter.

“During the visit, several bilateral meetings were held with the aim of deepening the otherwise excellent cooperation between the ministries of interior of Montenegro and Hungary and further improvement of cooperation between the two police forces with a focus on strengthening material and technical capacities”, the press release says.

It is stated that Pinter emphasized Hungary’s support for the completion of Montenegro’s EU integration process and reaffirmed the institutional maturity and credibility of the Montenegrin system, which has the status of a reliable partner in the system of collective security.

Saranovic assessed that Montenegro is already functioning as a full member of the EU, given the results it is achieving and the reforms it is implementing.

The MUP said that a visit of the Border Police Sector to their Hungarian colleagues has been arranged, with the goal to ensure that, through their expert support and the implementation of the Intergovernmental Agreement worth EUR 54.2 million, the Police Administration receives the up-to-date systems and equipment as soon as possible, which will bring a revolution in the digitization of the police work processes.
