Police warn of fraudulent investment platform

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Police Administration has warned citizens about an online scam being promoted through social media, internet portals, and sponsored advertisements as a purported investment platform called CGInvest.

“Photographs, names, and alleged statements of government officials, as well as Montenegro’s symbols and insignia, are being used without authorization in an attempt to mislead citizens,” the Police Administration said in a press release.

Officers from the High-Tech Crime Unit have identified multiple advertisements and websites falsely claiming that the project is supported by state institutions and that citizens can earn a guaranteed daily income of €80 or more with an initial investment of only €220 or €250.

“We would particularly like to emphasize that these materials misuse photographs and alleged statements of Prime Minister Milojko Spajic, as well as other visual elements intended to create a false impression of legitimacy and links to state authorities,” the press release reads.

An analysis revealed numerous indicators of fraud, including promises of quick and guaranteed profits without financial risk, requests for an initial payment, redirection of users to suspicious websites and forms requesting personal and banking information, the use of fake news articles, manipulated photographs and AI-generated content, as well as accounts and pages whose identity and location are unknown.
