Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development Nik Gjeloshaj, Montenegro is firmly committed to continuing to strengthen its political, security, and economic partnership with the United States (U.S.).

“We are confident that the years ahead will bring new investment projects, more intensive trade, stronger ties between our economies, and an even firmer friendship between our peoples,” Gjeloshaj wrote in an opinion piece.

He noted that this year, as the United States marks the major milestone of the 250th anniversary of its Declaration of Independence, “we are celebrating far more than a historic date in the life of one nation.”

“We celebrate the idea of freedom, the strength of democracy, faith in human dignity, and the right of every society to build its future on responsibility, hard work, and progress. These are values that transcend borders and remain a lasting inspiration for all countries that see their future within the community of free and democratic nations,” Gjeloshaj said.

According to him, Montenegro and the United States share precisely that vision.

“Our partnership is based not only on shared interests, but above all on shared values. The United States has been and remains one of Montenegro’s most important strategic partners on its Euro-Atlantic path, a strong ally within NATO, and a reliable pillar in preserving peace, stability, and security in the Western Balkans,” Gjeloshaj added.

He said continued U.S. support for strengthening democratic institutions, the rule of law, inclusiveness, and European standards remains invaluable to Montenegro’s development and reaffirms the country’s place within the community of Western democracies.

“At the same time, I am confident that the economy is the next major dimension of our alliance. The strength of our partnership lies in our willingness to jointly make new investments, foster innovation, and create new opportunities for development for the benefit of the citizens and economies of both countries,” Gjeloshaj said.
