Podgorica, (MINA) – President of Montenegro Jakov Milatovic said that in the case of former Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vesna Bratic he acted exclusively in line with the Constitution and the law, without prejudice to the position of the Ministry of Justice.
He previously asked the Ministry of Justice to, in accordance with its legal powers, review the request for Bratic’s exemption from criminal prosecution and submit a reasoned proposal for decision-making.
In a press release delivered to the media on Friday, Milatovic stated that he carefully followed the reactions of the public, as well as of political, professional and media circles, regarding the Bratic case.
According to him, the position of the Ministry of Justice is a prerequisite for his decision-making in all cases, including this one.
“All I expect from the police and judicial authorities is that their actions enable fair and dignified treatment to all citizens of Montenegro”, said Milatovic.
Milatovic stated that it has been six years since the democratic changes took place, and that the citizens are seeking justice and expect answers to several questions, including who was behind the murders of Dusko Jovanovic and Slavoljub Scekic, the collapse of the guarantees of the Podgorica Aluminum Plant, and the “Limenka” affair, as well as how Milos Medenica escaped and who is responsible for dozens of mafia-related murders on the streets of Montenegro cities.
According to him, one cannot speak about justice in Montenegro as long as these and many other questions remain unanswered.
“That’s why I encourage them to speak equally about the inactions of the former nd the current regimes, because selective justice is worse than the greatest injustice”, said Milatovic adding that it is time for justice in Montenegro.
