Podgorica, (MINA) – The provision concerning parental leave will be further reviewed through negotiations with the European Commission (EC) and social partners, the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Dialogue said, adding that there is no intention to undermine the rights of any parent.
The proposed amendments to the Labor Law stipulate that parental leave will continue to last 365 days, with 60 days designated as non-transferable for each parents.
The Ministry stated that Minister Naida Nisic, speaking as a guest on a morning program on TV Vijesti on Monday, announced that the provisions maintaining parental leave of 365 days, including 60 days of the non-transferable part, will be further reviewed through negotiations with the EC and social partners.
“Communication with the EC is moving towards maintaining 60 days of non-transferable leave, which stems from the obligation to comply with the EU Directive, which means that we are not reducing the existing 365 days of leave, but rather introducing this provision as its mandatory part," explained the Ministry.
