Podgorica, (MINA) - The Government’s proposal to shorten mothers’ leave following the childbirth by two months is unreasonable, the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) assessed and announced that they will once again propose an extension of parental leave.
The DPS parliamentary group stated that, following the announcement of the Government’s proposal to shorten parental leave for mothers from 12 to ten months through amendments to the Labor Law, it is clear why the MPs from the ruling parties recently rejected DPS’s proposal to extend parental leave.
“That’s why we will again propose that a motion to extend the parental leave to 18 or 24 months be included in the parliamentary agenda, because we consider it one of the key measures Montenegro needs in order to encourage young married couples to have more children”, DPS parliamentary group stated.
