Delic reelected as Mojkovac Mayor

Podgorica, (MINA) - The ruling majority in the Mojkovac Municipal Assembly reelected on Friday Vesko Delic as President of that municipality.

As Vijesti daily reports, 17 councilors of the ruling majority voted in favor of Delic, while the opposition left the session before the vote.

President of the Municipal Assembly Marko Janketic said that the reelection of the municipal president was undertaken in order to ensure institutional stability and avoid legal uncertainty in the functioning of the local administration.

According to him, the support for Delic until the holding of regular local elections is the result of clearly defined coalition agreements.

According to the non-final verdict of the Podgorica High Court, Delic was sentenced to a six-months suspended sentence for appointing heads of the Communal Police and the Mojkovac Rescue and Protection Service in 2022, despite knowing they had not met the legal requirements.

His four-year term expired on February 1, while the regular local elections are scheduled for June next year.
