Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Region Development Damjan Culafic, the construction of the second section of the motorway is one of the most important infrastructure projects for achieving more balanced development in Montenegro, contributing to better connectivity of the north and its stronger integration into European transport networks.
“This section provides an invaluable boost to the development of northern Montenegro, as improved transport connectivity creates opportunities for growth in other sectors, from tourism and agriculture to the creation of new jobs and the overall improvement of citizens’ quality of life. Most importantly, it lays the groundwork for reducing or eliminating regional development disparities,” Culafic said.
Speaking about the financial aspect of the project, he noted that the EU grant of €150 million confirms the strong partnership between Montenegro and the European Union, as well as the EU’s confidence in the country’s development priorities.
He emphasized that the construction of the second section is based on the principles of sustainable development and the highest European environmental protection standards.
“Residents of the northern region deserve high-quality connections with the rest of the country and equal opportunities for living, working, education, healthcare and business development. The European Union’s friendly and supportive relationship has once again been confirmed through this substantial grant,” Culafic said.
