Podgorica, (MINA) – The Rule of Law Council has invited the Parliamentary Committee for the Political System, Judiciary and Administration to issue without delay a public call for the election of four members of the Judicial Council from among distinguished lawyers.
The office of Deputy Prime Minister for Political System, Judiciary and Anticorruption Momo Koprivica, who chaired the session, recalls that the mandate of the Judicial Council expires on July 12.
“The Council called on the competent parliamentary committee to issue a public invitation without delay and to proceed with the election of four members of the Judicial Council from the ranks of distinguished lawyers, as well as to schedule a conference of judges as soon as possible in order to elect the members of the Judicial Council from among the judiciary”, the press release said.
It adds that this is a necessary step to avoid any vacuum in the functioning of the judicial branch in the year when the negotiation chapters in the area of the rule of law are expected to be closed.
