Airports expect to see over 3 million passengers

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Airports of Montenegro (ACG), the number of passengers at both Montenegrin airports is expected to exceed three million this year.

“Last year, the airports served over 2.8 million passengers, with over 1.75 million in Podgorica and over one million in Tivat. This year, we expect the number of passengers to exceed three million,” ACG stated in a press release.

The company added that, according to forecasts, around 50 routes would be active at Tivat Airport during the summer.

“The most important news is that the Spanish low-cost airline Vueling will be coming to Montenegro for the first time, launching the Tivat-Barcelona route on 1 July,” said ACG.

The press release states that a number of current partners and carriers, such as easyJet and Jet2.com, have announced increased rotations throughout almost the entire summer season, which is a good sign that the season in Montenegro could last a full seven months, instead of just two or three.

“As for Podgorica Airport, more than 45 routes are planned, five of which are new, including routes to Prague, Brno, and Baku with Air Montenegro aircraft, as well as Cairo and Madrid, with charter flights from Petroleum Air Services and Iberia,” the press release states.

ACG representatives said that they were working diligently to make the Podgorica-Madrid route a regular seasonal service starting next year.
