Region to be a part of contemporary trends in the energy sector

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Minister of Economy Dragica Sekulic has said that the countries in the region must not miss the opportunity to be part of the contemporary trends in the field of energy and social development.

At today’s summit “Energy Security in the Region”, held in Belgrade, she said that it was her honour to have been given the opportunity to discuss such an important topic with the counterparts from the region.

“We all know that the provision of sufficient quantity of energy is one of the key conditions for sustainability of a modern society, and the main precondition for the sustainable development we strive for. However, it seems that the question – how to provide enough energy – involves the most demanding task for this generation on decision makers,” said Sekulic.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Economy, she reminded that this complex task had been made easier to a certain degree.

“Our strategic goal, which is the EU membership, creates the opportunity to follow the example of those who set standards in the field sustainable development and clean, climate-neutral energy,” said Sekulic.

The press release says that, in line with its energy sector priorities, Montenegro will continue with the activities aimed at providing safe energy supply, developing a competitive energy market and ensuring a sustainable development of the energy sector, in cooperation with all stakeholders that share the same goals.
