Montenegro’s EU membership dubbed matter of good intention

Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro’s EU membership is only a matter of good intention, said Hungarian parliament Speaker Laszlo Kover, adding that 2025, as a set deadline for the Montenegrin EU accession, has been set too far away.

Montenegrin Speaker Ivan Brajovic is paying an official visit to Hungary on Kover’s invitation.

Brajovic and Kover signed a Framework partnership agreement, which, according to the parliament’s press release, enables the more intensive and effective cooperation between the two parliaments.

Based on this agreement, the secretaries general of the two parliaments signed the agreement on cooperation of the administrative services.

“I am thankful that Hungary is working as a true friend of Montenegro. I absolutely believe in great future, European future of the two countries”, said Brajovic.

Kover congratulated to Montenegro for the results it achieved in regard to NATO membership accession, and the results it achieved in the process of European integration.

“We believe that Montenegro’s EU accession remains only a matter of good intention, and that the year 2025, as a year set for Montenegro accession, is set too far away”, said Kover, adding that he expected that the changes would happen in the EU which would speed up this process.

Brajovic also met with Hungarian president Janos Ader, whom he introduced with the current political moment in Montenegro, as well as the progress of the country in the EU integration process.

Ader praised Montenegro’s progress achieved in all fields, and emphasized that the position of Hungary has not changed in regard to the process of Montenegro’s EU accession.Longer version of article is available on a link MINA ENGLISH SERVIS
