Markovic opens a silumin foundry

Podgorica, (MINA) – Prime Minister Dusko Markovic has opened a silumin foundry at Uniprom KAP, saying that every new product made in Montenegro was a step in the direction of creating new jobs and offering added value on the path towards the European qualify of life for the citizens.

The project of new foundry for production of aluminium alloys in small ingots, owned by Veselin Pejovic, is worth more than €10 million and envisages dozens of new jobs.

Markovic said that the development of new KAP had been challenged by a hysterical desire to see this project fail.

“But the new factory, which will make products fit to be exported straight to the car or airplane manufacturers, defines the skeptics and opponents of the contemporary development,” said Markovic.

He said that this investment and everything that had been done so far, including the new development projects, was worthy of respect and deserving of institutional support.

Pejovic said that, since the takeover of KAP, the company had faced the deepest crisis of the aluminium industry.

According to him, KAP’s previous bad reputation, lack of understanding from banks, obsolete equipment and bankruptcy proceedings did not prevent the company from making its mark on the European map of aluminium plants, and placing it among top five companies involved in this industry.
