Closer partnership with Herceg Novi planned

Herceg Novi, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Embassy of the United States of America expects that it will establish a closer partnership with Herceg Novi, a city visited by an increasing number of American citizens every year.

During her first official visit to Herceg Novi, the U.S. Ambassador to Montenegro Judy Rising Reinke said that that the Embassy was open for cooperation with this municipality, adding that there are many opportunities for exchange.

At a meeting with Mayor Stevan Katic, she expressed satisfaction with implementation of the Daycare Centre Development Project, financed from a donation of the Headquarters of the U.S. Army for Europe, within the framework of the humanitarian aid programme implemented by the Office of Defense Cooperation at the U.S. Embassy in Podgorica.

According to a press release issued by the Herceg Novi administration, Rising Reinke said that the project was a good example of cooperation, adding that she was glad that it would enable the education of children with impaired development.

“Our goal is to help build bridges of trust and friendship,” said Rising Reinke.

She expressed interest in the development of yachting and cruising tourism and the opportunities available in that field, as well as in cooperation in the field of culture and education through different projects and exchanges.

Katic informed Rising Reinke about the ongoing projects and investments on the territory of Herceg Novi, as a fast-developing city.

He said that the local administration was focused on the improvement of infrastructure and living conditions, and good communication with the investors.

Talking about the development potentials, he underlined Lustica peninsula as a zone that was very attractive for investors.

Presenting the main challenges in the functioning of the local administration, Katic expressed dissatisfaction with communication with the central authorities, saying that major projects often depended on them and adding that new legislation interfered with the functioning and autonomy of the local administration.
