VDT adopts new War Crime Investigation Strategy Action Plan

 

Podgorica, (MINA) - The Supreme State Prosecutor’s Office (VDT) has adopted an action plan for the implementation of the War Crimes Investigation Strategy from this and following year, which represents an important step towards improving the efficiency of processing such cases, the VDT announced.

The VDT said that the goal of the action plan is to ensure continuity and full commitment to the implementation of operational activities in order to further improve the quality of proceedings in war crime cases.

“The action plan envisages a series of measures aimed at improving the work of the prosecution in the area of ​​war crimes, strengthening the professional capacities of state prosecutors through specialization and training, as well as intensifying cooperation with national and international institutions”, the press release says.

The VDT recalls that all 28 activities foreseen in the 2024/25 action plan have been successfully implemented, adding that the new action plan defines activities whose implementation will lead to desired results in the area of ​​war crimes.

According to the press release, the new Action Plan was prepared with the support of the EU-funded program “EU Support for Confidence Building in the Western Balkans” and implemented by UNDP.
