Tissot: UN supports Montenegro’s EU accession process
Podgorica, (MINA) - By supporting Montenegro in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Agenda, the UN is contributing to the reforms and the EU accession process, said UN Resident Coordinator in Montenegro, Caroline Tissot.
She met on Friday with Deputy Prime Minister Aleks Becic.
According to the press release from Becic’s office, excellent cooperation between Montenegro and the UN was reaffirmed, as well as their readiness to further strengthen it through concrete projects and initiatives.
Tissot, as stated, emphasized the UN team’s continued support to Montenegro in achieving national priorities, especially on the way to EU membership.
“The UN remains a strong partner of Montenegro on its European path. By supporting Montenegro in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Agenda, the UN team contributes to the reforms and the EU accession process”, Tissot said.
Becic noted that in the previous two years, Montenegro achieved significant results on its European path.
“The meeting concluded with an agreement to further intensify cooperation”, the press release adds.
