Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Government will accept wage increases for all employees in Montenegro, not only those in the public sector, Prime Minister Milojko Spajic said, adding that it will not agree to partial solutions.
“I have a message for workers: we will treat all of you equally and will never agree to partial solutions, which means we will not allow wages to be increased only for those in the public sector and not for those in the private sector,” Spajic said in Parliament.
Responding to a question from MP Danijel Zivkovic of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) about the Government’s key promises, Spajic said that the loudest voices in Montenegro often come from those who do the least.
He recalled that during DPS governments, the largest number of companies were shut down, employees lost their jobs, wages were around €200, and pensions €100, while value-added tax (VAT) was increased several times, fuel was a luxury, and unemployment was at record levels.
“We have doubled wages compared to 2020 and more than doubled minimum pensions. We have reduced the gap in society and upheld human dignity,” Spajic said.
