Podgorica, (MINA) - Minister of Sports and Youth and former vice-president of the Socialist People’s Party (SNP) Dragoslav Scekic announced that the process of establishing a new political party, the People’s Trust Movement, is underway.

Scekic told Radio Montenegro that Prime Minister Milojko Spajic will decide whether he remains in the government, adding that he believes that the Prime Minister will not take steps that could disrupt it.

“It is true that I am founding a movement with many other individuals who believe that at this moment, Montenegro and its political scene need a movement that will address the problems of the citizens, that is, a people’s movement”, said Scekic, the RTCG portal reports.

He added that in Montenegro, and in the wider region, public trust, trust in political subjects and trust in politicians, has declined significantly and is now at a low level.

“We believe that at this moment we should launch such a movement that will bring the institutions of the system closer to the people, fulfilling purpose, being at the service of the people. The people is the core of the movement”, Scekic said.

When asked if he would remain in his ministerial position, Scekic said that the Ministry of Sports and Youth has achieved notable results and made a significant contribution to the work of the Government.

“The question of my survival in the Ministry and in the Government, is first of all a question to which exclusively the Prime Minister can give an answer as someone who forms his team and who proposes members of his cabinet”, Scekic said.
