Scekic: European Commission confirms CAA’s successful results

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Director of the Civil Aviation Agency (CAA) Ivan Scekic said that Montenegro’s progress in the field of aviation, recognized in the European Commission (EC) report, confirms the CAA’s contribution to alignment with European regulations and standards.

Scekic said that it is particularly important that this progress is supported by the results of the EASA standardization inspection of February this year, which confirmed a good level of application of European safety requirements in the area of air crew licensing.

“The results of the Agency’s performance review further demonstrate the CAA’s responsibility, professionalism, and commitment to consistently applying EU regulations and the highest international aviation standards. The situation in the audited areas was quite unsatisfactory when I took over the director’s role, but the CAA team managed to significantly improve that part of the system in a short time, which resulted in a successful EASA monitoring mission for Montenegro,” Scekic told Mina-business.

According to the EC report, Montenegro progressed well on aligning with the technical aspects of air traffic management (ATM).

Furthermore, good level of implementation of EU safety acquis in the domain of air crew licensing was confirmed during the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) inspection conducted in February 2025.

According to Scekic, EC’s assessment shows that Montenegro’s civil aviation sector is moving in the right direction, and that the country has a stable and reliable aviation oversight and control system that is continuously being improved.
