Podgorica, (MINA) - The progress Montenegro has achieved in the EU negotiations requires a clear and equal response from the EU, which must demonstrate through concrete decisions that enlargement is its strategic priority, said European Parliament Rapporteur for Montenegro Marjan Sarec.
He said that by closing five additional negotiation chapters, Montenegro has once again confirmed its strong commitment to the European path and the continuation of the reform process.
According to him, this step represents significant progress in the accession negotiations and sends a clear signal of the political will and commitment of the Montenegrin authorities.
“Montenegro’s progress, however, still requires a clear and balanced response from the EU, which must demonstrate through concrete decisions, that enlargement to the Western Balkans remains a strategic priority, not merely a declarative obligation”, Sarec said.
