Ruling majority to nominate Capital City Assembly chair by week-end

Podgorica, (MINA) – Representatives of the ruling majority in Podgorica agreed on Monday to nominate a candidate for the position of Capital City Assembly chair by the end of the week.

Deputy Mayor Nadja Ljiljanic told journalists following the meeting that they hope they would have a candidate even earlier, but she did not want to talk about the names of potential candidates, Vijesti reports.

Asked if a candidate proposed the Democratic People’s Party (DNP) would be acceptable to them, Ljiljanic answered that any candidate agreed upon by the For the Future of Podgorica coalition is acceptable to them.

The meeting was also attended by Milos Krstovic and Drago Sundic from the Movement for Podgorica, New Serbian Democracy (NSD) councilors Mitar Susic and Stefan Vesovic, Bogdan Bozovic and Masa Stevovic from the Socialist People’s Party (SNP), Mitar Paunovic from the Democrats, as well as Mayor Sasa Mujovic and Andjela Micovic from the Europe Now Movement (PES).

The DNP councilors’ club proposed last week councilor Ivana Maskovic for the position of Capital City Assembly chair, stating that, if this is not acceptable to the majority and the blackmail and conditioning continue, they would support the election of Movement Preokret councilor Srdcan Peric to the position.
