Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Srdjana Petronijevic, partner at the law firm Moravcevic Vojnovic & Partners AOD in cooperation with Schoenherr, healthy competition is not only a legal obligation but also an indicator of the level of market development, as it creates a more stable, resilient, and prosperous business environment in the long term.
She emphasized that the essence of the competition protection system is to prevent costly and lengthy proceedings before the Competition Protection Agency, in order to safeguard public interest and maintain a healthy market environment.
“I believe it is crucial to act preventively, meaning that companies should establish a clear compliance policy in line with competition rules and regularly educate their employees. Compliance programmes are now a standard in business operations. They protect not only the company but also each employee. Furthermore, they have a wider positive effect, as the culture of fair business practices extends to relationships with customers, suppliers, and partners,” Petronijevic said in an interview with Mina-business agency.
She noted that it is important for the Agency to continue actively raising awareness about the importance of adhering to competition rules, while companies should clearly define internal procedures, regularly organize training, and update their policies.
“The key to success lies in the proper combination of education, standardized processes, and collaboration with partners who have extensive experience and expertise in this field, particularly lawyers specializing in competition law. The workshop titled ‘Rules of Healthy Business Competition,’ organized by the Council of Foreign Investors (CFI), is a good example of how these rules can be practically communicated to the business community,” Petronijevic explained.
