Pavlicic proposes urgent meeting of judicial and executive branches

Podgorica, (MINA) - Supreme Court President Valentina Pavlicic has proposed that an urgent meeting of the judicial and executive branch of government, regarding the recent events, be held at that court no later than February 9.

The Supreme Court announced that Pavlicic sent the proposal to Prime Minister Milojko Spajic, Ministers of Justice and Internal Affairs, Bojan Bozovic and Danilo Saranovic, and Chief of Police Lazar Scepanovic, following the growing public and media interest in the execution of court decisions, the integrity of court proceedings and the functioning of the system.

“The initiative has been launched considering the information communicated through the media recently, regarding the criminal proceedings concluded by the first-instance verdict of the Podgorica High Court in the case of Milos Medenica and others, as well as the need to consider the possible existence of systemic challenges related to the execution of court decisions and the avoidance of criminal liability”, the press release says.

According to the press release from the Supreme Court, the purpose of the meeting would be to discuss ongoing issues important for the protection of national security, the integrity of court proceedings and the authority of state institutions, as well as the improvement of institutional cooperation between the judicial and executive branches of government, within the constitutional and legal competences of each body.
