Podgorica, (MINA) – Talks between representatives of the ruling majority and the opposition, mediated by the EU Delegation, have reached an impasse, because the opposition demonstrated a lack of seriousness and willingness to respect the agreed obligations, the parliamentary majority announced.
In the press release, submitted to the media by the Europe Now Movement (PES) on behalf of the parliamentary majority, it is stated that the talks were organized with the aim of finding a compromise that would enable the opposition to participate in full capacity in the European integration process.
“Although the opposition, represented by the Democratic Party of Socialists, URA, the European Alliance and the Croatian Civic Initiative, announced a platform five days ago aimed at seeking a compromise on the EU integration issue, instead of the announced platform, we received a media announcement that it will not be unified in its actions”, the press release says.
It is emphasized that the parliamentary majority demonstrated goodwill by proposing an additional deadline for the opposition to reach an agreement, but that there had been no response even by the end of the working week.
According to the press release, due to the lack of will to find a compromise and adopt constitutional amendments that are not disputed by any party, Montenegro is in a situation in which it could lose EUR 4.6 million from the EU Growth Plan.
