Odzic calls for lower VAT rate in tourism

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Vice-President of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and President of the Budva City Council Petar Odzic believes that the value added tax (VAT) rate in tourism should be reduced given that the season is already significantly underperforming.

He noted that the season’s weak performance is now an official fact, with final results expected by the end of September.

“For Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordic, the season is excellent and her only complaint is the opposition’s attacks on tourism. For State Secretary Vuk Zizic, the blame lies with Democratic Party of Socialists MP Nikola Milovic, but I hope that at least Prime Minister Milojko Spajic will have a better explanation,” said Odzic.

On his X account, he called for a reduction in the VAT rate in tourism to enable better preparation for the next season

“Once again, I appeal for a reduction in the VAT rate in tourism, so that the next season can be better prepared, along with the development of an adequate strategy with a focus on air connectivity and price competitiveness,” Odzic said.
