Monstat: Inflation rate at 3.1 percent in March

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Compared with last year’s corresponding period, the prices of products and services for personal consumption, measured by the consumer price index (CPI), were 3.1 percent higher on average in March.

According to Monstat, the consumer prices saw an average increase of 0.8 percent compared with February.

“The negative inflation rate at the monthly level was affected primarily by an increase in prices of fuel and lubricants for motor vehicles, clothing, milk, other dairy products and eggs, household maintenance products, meat and meat products, coffee and coffee substitutes, cereals and cereal products, as well as fruit and nuts,” Monstat said in a press release.

Compared with the same period in 2025, consumer prices were 2.9 percent higher on average in the first three months.

Across the main groups, the monthly increase in prices was recorded for transport, clothing and footwear, furnishings and routine maintenance of the house, recreation, sports and culture, food and non-alcoholic beverages, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, restaurants and accommodation services, personal care, social welfare, different goods and services, information and communications, and insurance and financial services.

Prices of other products and services have not changed considerably.
