Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Monstat, there were 310,400 active citizens in Montenegro last year, 89.3 percent or 277,300 of whom were employed.

In this period, 33,100 or 10.7 percent of the total number of active citizens were unemployed. 

For the age group 15 to 89, the activity rate was 60.9 percent, the employment rate 54.4 percent, the unemployment rate 10.7 percent, and the share of the population outside the labour force 39.1 percent.

Of the total active population, 168,700, or 54.4 percent, are men, while 141,600, or 45.6 percent, are women. 

“The largest number of employed persons are in the 25 to 49 age group, totaling 193,800. The largest number of unemployed persons are also in the same age group, amounting to 19,600,” Monstat stated in a press release.

The survey is based on a sample of 7,100 households.
