Podgorica, (MINA) - The suffering of the people in Gaza is a tragedy that affects all of humankind, Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic stated, adding that Montenegro remains committed to the principles of peace, justice and human dignity.

Milatovic, who is attending the UN General Assembly session in New York, participated in the conference on Palestine, organized by France and Saudi Arabia, chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron.

Milatovic said that Montenegro supports the Declaration adopted on September 12 at the UN General Assembly, which reaffirms commitment to a two-state solution as the only viable path to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.

He added that Montenegro clearly condemned the terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel on October 7, 2023.

“However, that crime cannot and must not serve as an excuse for collective punishment of civilians. The suffering of the people in Gaza is a tragedy that affects all of humanity. That is why Montenegro calls for an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages and full respect for international humanitarian law”, said Milatovic.
